The European Open 2027 are a new PDC major tournament and will be held from 18 to 20 June 2027 at the Salzburgarena in Salzburg. At the premiere, 160 participants compete for a total prize fund of £750,000.
The European Open are the biggest new addition to the PDC calendar for 2027. The three-day major tournament will be held from 18 to 20 June 2027 at the Salzburgarena in Salzburg, taking place the week after the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt. The event was announced on 25 September 2026 with the publication of the PDC's provisional calendar for 2027. After the UK Open, it is the second open tournament in professional darts. The field comprises 160 players, mirroring the UK Open exactly. All 128 holders of a PDC Tour Card are eligible – including those who only secure their Tour Card for the 2027 season. They are joined by 16 international qualifiers, the top 4 of the Challenge Tour, the top 4 of the Development Tour and eight amateurs from PDC Europe NEXT GEN and PDCE Start. Tour Card holders enter at different rounds depending on their world ranking position, and each round is drawn freely. Play takes place – again following the UK Open model – on eight stages simultaneously. Rounds 1 to 3 on Friday are played over Best of 11 Legs. The top 32 of the PDC Order of Merit enter in round 4 on Friday evening, and from then until the quarter-finals Best of 19 Legs applies. The semi-finals and the final on Sunday evening are played over Best of 21 Legs. Fans can move freely around the arena and switch between the boards; the programme is rounded off by an Erdinger beer garden, among other things. A total prize fund of £750,000 has been announced for the premiere, matching that of the UK Open. The first European Open champion will receive £120,000. PDC chief executive Matt Porter described the introduction of the tournament as another significant step for the growth of the sport in Europe, while PDC Europe sporting director Philip Brzezinski spoke of a very special new chapter for darts in Europe. Ticket pre-sales started on 12 November 2026, with general sales a day later. In Germany, the streaming service DAZN broadcasts all PDC major tournaments live, and the European Open will also be shown on Sport1.
