PDC World Grand Prix 2027: Format

The World Grand Prix 2027 is the only major PDC tournament played in the 501 double-in, double-out format. This means that in every leg a player can only start scoring once they hit a double, and can only win the leg by bringing their 501 points down to exactly 0 with a double. Since 2000 it has been played throughout as a knockout; only in 1999 was a group stage held before the knockout phase, with an additional preliminary round in 2000. While the first edition in 1998 was still played in the best of legs format, the World Grand Prix has been played in the best of sets format throughout since 1999.
