The German Darts Open 2027 are the tenth of 15 tournaments on the European Darts Tour 2027, staged by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and PDC Europe and officially known as the Winamax European Darts Tour. It takes place from 9 to 11 July 2027 at the Ostermann-Arena in Leverkusen; it is the sixth staging of the tournament overall and the first at this location. The event in Leverkusen is being held under a new but familiar name: in 2026 the competition was still staged there as the European Darts Open; because the PDC's new major is also called the European Open, the European Tour event once again carries the name German Darts Open. The German Darts Open were newly created in 2017 as part of the expansion of the European Tour and were initially staged at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken (2017–2019), later at the Sparkassen Arena in Jena (2022–2023). From 2024 the tournament was no longer in the calendar; in 2027 it returns at the Ostermann-Arena in Leverkusen. The inaugural winner in 2017 was Peter Wright, who also took a second title in 2022 and is therefore the record winner. In 2018 Max Hopp won in Saarbrücken to become the first German to win a European Tour event, in 2019 Michael van Gerwen triumphed and in 2023 Krzysztof Ratajski. The only nine-darter in the tournament's history so far was thrown by Steve Beaton in 2019. The defending champion is Krzysztof Ratajski: the Pole won the most recent edition of the German Darts Open to date in Jena in 2023, beating Stephen Bunting 8-3, and also came out on top in Leverkusen in 2026, where he won the European Darts Open final 8-6 against Jermaine Wattimena to claim his third European Tour title overall. Before that he had narrowly beaten his compatriot Sebastian Bialecki, while Wattimena had reached the final with a clear win over Damon Heta. The best German in 2026 was Jan Schmidt, who reached the last 16. The field consists of 48 players in a knockout format. The top 16 in the PDC Order of Merit are seeded for the second round and enter on Saturday, while the remaining 32 players contest the first round on Friday. Matches are played over the best of 11 legs, the semi-finals over the best of 13 legs and the final over the best of 15 legs. As at all European Tour events the prize money is £230,000; the winner receives £35,000 and the runner-up £15,000, and reaching the first round alone is worth £2,000. PDC Europe has announced an increase in prize money for 2027; until the new amounts are published, the 2026 figures apply. The prize money counts towards the European Tour Ranking, through which the best 32 players qualify for the European Darts Championship at the end of the season. The European Darts Tour 2027 visits ten countries and 15 cities for the first time; alongside Leverkusen, Kiel, Riesa, Munich, Sindelfingen and Göttingen are on the German programme, with Ghent in Belgium and Liévin in France new additions.
