World Series of Darts
14 January – 19 September 2027
The World Series of Darts is the PDC's global invitational series: since 2013 the top stars have faced local qualifiers at tournaments from Bahrain via Copenhagen and New York to Wollongong. The highlight is the season finale, the World Series of Darts Finals at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam.
The World Series of Darts is a series of invitational tournaments organised by the PDC that has been staged around the globe since 2013. The aim of the series is to make darts more popular outside its traditional strongholds: the PDC's best-known players go on tour and face local qualifiers and regional representatives. It all started in 2013 with the Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters and the Sydney Darts Masters; since then the series has visited eleven countries and has featured between two and seven tournaments depending on the year. Each World Series event has £100,000 on offer, with the winner receiving £30,000. The prize money does not count towards the PDC Order of Merit. Instead, every tournament awards points for the World Series of Darts ranking – 12 for the title, 8 for reaching the final, 5 for the semi-finals, 3 for the quarter-finals and 1 for the first round. The top eight players in this ranking qualify automatically for the season finale, the World Series of Darts Finals, which have been held annually since 2015 and have taken place at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam every year since 2022. The tournament calendar has changed considerably over the years: after stops in Dubai, Singapore, Japan, Shanghai, Melbourne, Brisbane, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Cologne, among others, the Bahrain Darts Masters and the Poland Darts Masters (2023), the Australian Darts Masters (2024) and the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters (2026) were added more recently. In 2026 the calendar featured six invitational tournaments plus the Finals; the Poland Darts Masters and the Dutch Darts Masters were no longer staged. The events were won by Michael van Gerwen (Bahrain), Luke Littler (Saudi Arabia), Michael van Gerwen again (Nordic Darts Masters), Luke Humphries (U.S. Darts Masters), Jonny Clayton (New Zealand Darts Masters) and James Wade (Australian Darts Masters), before Ross Smith claimed the Finals in Amsterdam. The record winner of the series is Michael van Gerwen with 24 titles from 34 finals. The World Series of Darts Finals 2027 are scheduled for 16 to 19 September 2027, once again at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam, with Ross Smith the defending champion. The name World Series of Darts existed before: in 2006 the PDC staged a tournament of the same name in the USA, in which the top 16 PDC players took on 16 Americans and Phil Taylor won the final 13-5 against Adrian Lewis. In 2010 the name was briefly revived as the World Series of Darts Festival in Las Vegas, before the PDC began using it from 2013 for today's worldwide tournament series.
