The Hungarian Darts Trophy 2026 was the eleventh of fifteen tournaments on the PDC European Tour 2026 and took place from 28 to 30 August 2026 at the MVM Dome in Budapest. The ranking tournament was organised by the Professional Darts Corporation, or PDC Europe. For Budapest it was the sixth edition of the event, which was held for the first time in 2021 – the premiere planned for 2020 at the ÉRD Aréna had been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was played as a knockout tournament with 48 participants: up to and including the quarter-finals in a best of 11 legs format, the semi-finals in best of 13 legs and the final in best of 15 legs, each in double-out mode. In 2026 the prize money was raised as part of the PDC-wide increase to a total of £230,000 per European Tour event, with the winner receiving £35,000. The prize money counts towards the PDC Order of Merit, the ProTour Order of Merit and the European Tour Order of Merit, through which the top 32 qualify for the European Darts Championship in Dortmund. Defending champion Niko Springer started the tournament with a 6-1 win over Maik Kuivenhoven, but lost his second-round match 4-6 to Ryan Searle on Saturday afternoon and was eliminated. Beau Greaves also made headlines: she secured one of the ten places in the Tour Card Holder Qualifier and became the first woman ever to compete in a European Tour event – in the first round she lost narrowly 5-6 to Rob Cross, but threw the highest average of the first round with 104.88. The field was changed by late withdrawals: Gerwyn Price pulled out before the draw and was replaced by Callan Rydz, which moved Luke Woodhouse up to seed 16; James Wade withdrew after the draw and Madars Razma took his place. Several seeded players went out in the second round: Wessel Nijman lost 2-6 to the 2023 champion Dave Chisnall, number 16 seed Luke Woodhouse was beaten 5-6 by Rob Cross, and in the evening session top seed Luke Humphries also went out, losing 3-6 to Dirk van Duijvenbode. The best average of the tournament was set by Gary Anderson with 105.27 in his 6-2 win over Krzysztof Ratajski. Also progressing were Ross Smith, Jermaine Wattimena, Danny Noppert, Chris Dobey, Stephen Bunting, Jonny Clayton, Keane Barry, Michael van Gerwen, Gian van Veen, Nathan Aspinall and Josh Rock, who knocked the 2022 champion Joe Cullen out of the tournament 6-0. All eight last-16 matches were played on Sunday afternoon: Dirk van Duijvenbode won 6-4 against Rob Cross, Danny Noppert 6-4 against Ryan Searle, Ross Smith 6-4 against Jonny Clayton, Dave Chisnall 6-2 against Keane Barry, Gian van Veen 6-3 against Jermaine Wattimena, Gary Anderson 6-5 against Stephen Bunting, Nathan Aspinall 6-4 against Michael van Gerwen and Chris Dobey 6-3 against Josh Rock. In the first semi-final over best of 13 legs Ross Smith reached the final with a 7-3 win over Danny Noppert; in the second semi-final Gary Anderson came through 7-6 against Nathan Aspinall in the deciding leg after surviving five match darts from his opponent. Ross Smith won the best of 15 legs final 8-2 against Gary Anderson. After checkouts of 124 and 103 he led 2-1 and extended his lead to 6-1; he sealed the win with an 11-dart break. The Englishman finished the final with an average of 101.01 and hit 73 per cent of his darts at double, while Anderson stayed at 90.50. For Smith it was his second European Tour title of the 2026 season after the International Darts Open in Riesa; he moved up from 17th to 15th in the PDC world rankings and took over the lead in the European Tour Order of Merit 2026. Smith received £35,000 for the win, runner-up Anderson £15,000. The event was broadcast internationally on PDC TV, with DAZN showing all sessions live in German-speaking countries.
