The record winners of the European Championship are Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen with four titles each: Taylor won the first four editions from 2008 to 2011, while van Gerwen was also unbeatable for four years in a row between 2014 and 2017. Simon Whitlock took the title in 2012, Adrian Lewis in 2013 and James Wade in 2018. Rob Cross won in 2019 and 2021, Peter Wright in 2020 and 2023, with Ross Smith winning in between in 2022. After the first major titles for Ritchie Edhouse in 2024 and Gian van Veen in 2025, Ross Smith came through again in 2026, winning the final 11:8 against Martin Schindler. The German was the first player from Germany in a major final, after Max Hopp had become the first German to reach a major semi-final in 2018. There have been five nine-darters at this tournament so far, most recently by Luke Woodhouse in 2026. Source
