About the ranking
The European Tour Order of Merit is the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) ranking that takes into account only the results of a season's European Tour tournaments. It is kept in order to determine the entrants for the European Championship: in 2026 the top 32 players make up the field for the European Championship in Dortmund. European Tour results also count towards the PDC Order of Merit and the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit.
The European Tour was launched in 2012, when the PDC turned two Players Championships held on the same weekend into one larger tournament for which the top 32 of the PDC Order of Merit were automatically qualified. Starting out with five tournaments, the series now comprises 15 events in 2026, in countries such as Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Since 2026, £230,000 has been on offer at each tournament, with the winner receiving £35,000.
From 2010 to 2013 the European ranking was also the qualifying basis for the European Championship as well as the World Championship; in 2014 and 2015 it was not used, and the positions of the relevant players were taken from the Pro Tour ranking in those years. Since 2018 the European Order of Merit has no longer been used to determine the European qualifiers for the World Championship.
With the 2026 season closing at the Dutch Darts Championship in Maastricht, Ross Smith is confirmed as the winner of the ranking with £158,000, followed by Wessel Nijman (£124,000) and Krzysztof Ratajski (£89,500). Niels Zonneveld, winner of the season's final event in Maastricht, is fourth with £87,500. Places 1 to 32, which end with Karel Sedlacek (£34,500), earn a spot at the European Championship.
How the ranking works
The European Tour Order of Merit is based on the prize money players win at the European Tour tournaments of the current season. In 2026 the calendar features 15 events with £230,000 in prize money each: the winner receives £35,000, the runner-up £15,000, semi-finalists £10,000, quarter-finalists £8,000, last-16 losers £5,000, while the second round is worth £3,500 and the first round £2,000. The 32 players pre-qualified via the PDC Order of Merit and the Pro Tour Order of Merit have to win their opening match for their prize money to count towards the ranking. The cut-off is the season's final European Tour tournament; the top 32 in the ranking qualify for the European Championship.
