About the ranking
The ProTour Order of Merit, officially the PDC Pro Tour Rankings since July 2025, was introduced in 2012 and replaced the then Players Championship Order of Merit. It counts the prize money from all events of the PDC Pro Tour, i.e. the Players Championships and the European Tour Events; until 2018 the UK Open Qualifiers also counted. The prize money from the same tournaments is additionally listed separately in the European Tour Rankings and the Players Championship Rankings.
Unlike the PDC Order of Merit, the Pro Tour ranking is a one-year ranking: since 2014 the prize money of the last twelve months has counted on a rolling basis, with older results dropping out again. Because the floor tournaments pay out far less money than the TV majors, a hierarchy of its own emerges – players who consistently go deep on the Pro Tour often stand much higher here than in the world rankings.
In 2026 the Pro Tour comprises 49 events, 34 of them Players Championships and 15 European Tour tournaments, with total prize money of £8,550,000. A Players Championship is worth £150,000 (£15,000 for the winner), a European Tour Event £230,000 (£35,000 for the winner). The ranking currently lists 215 players.
As of 29 October 2026, Wessel Nijman leads with £278,500 ahead of Ross Smith (£223,500) and Kevin Doets (£181,750). Behind them come Luke Woodhouse (£169,000) and Chris Dobey (£167,750), who won Players Championship 32 in Den Bosch on 29 October. Players Championship 31 the day before went to Charlie Manby; before that, Niels Zonneveld won the Dutch Darts Championship in Maastricht from 16 to 18 October, and a week earlier Jonny Clayton took the Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel. With Players Championships 33 and 34 on 4 and 5 November in Leicester, two floor tournaments are still to come. The most successful player of the 2026 Pro Tour season is Wessel Nijman with eight titles, followed by Luke Humphries and Ross Smith with four each and Chris Dobey with three tournament wins (as of 29 October 2026).
How the ranking works
There is no points system: only the prize money won, in pounds, counts. Every appearance at a Players Championship or a European Tour Event is credited with the corresponding prize money level – at a Players Championship in 2026 between £1,250 (last 64) and £15,000 for the winner, at a European Tour Event between £2,000 (first round) and £35,000 for the winner.
The ranking runs on a rolling one-year basis: the prize money of the last twelve months counts, older results drop out again. For qualification and seeding, cut-off dates are decisive, and these can fall several weeks or months before the tournament in question. If another event falls between the cut-off date and the tournament, it is only taken into account later.
The top-placed players who are not already in via the PDC Order of Merit qualify through the ranking: the top 16 for the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix, the top 16 for the European Darts Tour events and the top 40 for the PDC World Darts Championship. Since the two rankings overlap heavily, in practice a place beyond the top 16 or top 40 can also be enough to qualify. The ranking is also decisive for Tour Card status: the top 64 at the end of the year keep their PDC Tour Card, everyone else has to requalify via Q-School.
FAQ
Who currently leads the ProTour Order of Merit?
Wessel Nijman tops the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit with £278,500. He is followed by Ross Smith with £223,500 and Kevin Doets with £181,750 (as of 29 October 2026).
How is the Pro Tour Order of Merit calculated?
There is no points system: only the prize money in pounds won at the counting tournaments goes into the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit. At a Players Championship in 2026 the scale ranges from £1,250 (last 64) to £15,000 for the winner, at a European Tour event from £2,000 (first round) to £35,000 for the winner.
Which period counts for the PDC Pro Tour Rankings?
The ranking has been calculated on a rolling one-year basis since 2014: the prize money from the last twelve months counts, older results drop out again. For seedings and qualifications, cut-off dates apply that can be several weeks or months before the tournament in question.
Which tournaments count towards the ProTour ranking?
The events of the PDC Pro Tour count, i.e. the Players Championships and the European Tour tournaments; until 2018 the UK Open Qualifiers also counted. In 2026 the PDC Pro Tour comprises 49 events (34 Players Championships, 15 European Tour).
How much money can you win at the PDC Pro Tour tournaments?
A Players Championship has a prize fund of £150,000 in 2026, including £15,000 for the winner and £10,000 for the runner-up. A European Tour event pays out £230,000, with £35,000 for the winner and £15,000 for the runner-up. Across all 49 events that makes a total prize money of £8,550,000.
What does the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit qualify you for?
The PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit qualifies the top 16 for the World Matchplay, the World Grand Prix and the European Darts Tour events, and the top 40 for the PDC World Darts Championship. This only refers to players who are not already qualified via the PDC World Rankings, which is why in practice place 32 or 80 can be enough.
When is the Pro Tour ranking updated?
The PDC Pro Tour Rankings are recalculated after every PDC ranking tournament and updated live during the events. The standings as of 29 October 2026 include Players Championship 32 in Den Bosch, won by Chris Dobey that day; Players Championships 33 and 34 follow on 4 and 5 November in Leicester.
What does the ProTour ranking mean for the Tour Card?
The top 64 in the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit at the end of the year keep their PDC Tour Card. Players outside the top 64 have to requalify through Q-School. The ranking currently lists 215 players.
